From a young age, I began dancing recreationally at a local studio on Ohlone land, known as Gilroy, California. I competed in regional dance competitions for 10 years and grew to love and admire performance. After my last year competing, I knew that I wanted to share and explore authenticity, passion, subtlety, risk, pleasure, curiosity, love, tenderness, and healing through dance and other mediums.
In the last two years of high school, my interest in contemporary dance was ignited. I began indulging in the nuances I found in what dance consists of outside of performance including and not limited to, long processes, choreography, intricacies of the mind, anatomical literacy, physical and mental endurance, compassion, empathy, and beyond. Since finishing formal training at the Alonzo King Lines Training Program in 2020, I have relocated to Potawatomi; Kickapoo; Myaamia; Očhéthi Šakówiŋ; and Peoria land, known as Chicago, Illinois and have had the privilege of getting to know and develop a relationship with the upstanding Chicagoland community.
Since being here, I’ve changed and have been changed by the city and its beauty. Not to mention the people that continue to make this place home. I intend to reciprocate the hospitality, tenderness, patience, and resources I’ve been shown, and will strive to bring that intention to wherever the future may bring me.
